The Gunnison Gorge is one of the most amazing places to catch a trout in North America. Just getting to the river is an adventure in itself with the mile long hike down Chuker Trail. Once you are at the Chuker beach you are now in trout paradise. With the Gorge's stunning scenery and Class 2 and 3 rapids, the excitement never stops. The Gunnison Gorge is famous for its Salmon Fly Hatch in June but with that said a couple of my favorite times of the year to fish the Gunnison Gorge are in late April and early May, and also in late September into the first week of October. Fishing during these times of year is just plain outstanding and consistent, and that is our best chance for big numbers and big fish.
All trips are conducted through RIGS Fly Shop and what sets RIGS apart from the rest is that we only offer three day trips and always have a dedicated gear boat which allows for more time on the water with me catching fish. It is a great thing when we pull into camp after a long day on the water and your tents, cots and the rest of the camp is already set up for your comfort. This trip through the Gunnison Gorge is an all inclusive trip, so all you need to bring is a couple of changes of clothes, your toiletries and your rod and reel. We have you covered on everything else.
