Drift Boat Trip

Guided Drift Boat Fly Fishing with Matt McCannel

Floating the waters of the Lower Gunnison is a classic float trip down an iconic Western River. The Lower Gunnison wines its way through a sand stone cliffs and desert environment. Although not as dramatic as the Gunnison Gorge, this stretch of river holds large numbers of both Brown's and Rainbow trout. This is a year-round fishery but the winter (from the end of December through the middle of February can be slow, a walk wade trip up into the Gunnison Gorge is best this time of year.)

What you can expect - You will be floating down the waters of the Gunnison River in the comfort of a Boulder Boat Works drift boat. Matt will have a boat load of rods rigged and ready to go both nymphing and dry fly fishing. You can expect to be switching from throwing drys and nymphing throughout the day. Hatches and water flows will change through the seasons. The only time of year that Matt does not recommend this trip is from the end of December through the middle of February. The water temps. are just to cold for a great day on the water. Message Matt if you have any questions about this trip and what to expect during the different times of year.
